The Bramble honey is produced with nectar of blackberry flowers, plant of several species of thorny rosaceae of the genus Rubus, particularly widespread in the abandoned, rocky areas, near ruins and in the arid mountain pastures of the area. This is a rare kind of honey that in Sardinia is produced only in few spots where these kind of plant is more widespread but still very difficult to be produced due to the very short blooming season of the plants. Of course it is a completely wild flowers production that is naturally certified.
The product has a more or less dark amber color, with rapid crystallization, taste of ripe fruit or jam, delicate scent; is particularly suitable in the case of inflammations, flu and childhood diarrhea.
This honey is normally harvested in June after the 2 weeks of blooms that normally arrives after the 15th of the month but this depends a lot on the year: climate change is drastically changing this period and the 2022 was unfortunately one of the worst year for this honey due to the hot temperatures reached in Sardinia.
This honey is really a specialty of Sardinia but it is becoming every year more difficult to produce it.
As other honeys, also this one has special characteristics that depend a lot on the location where the honey is collected and on the plants: every honey is different and any glass can taste slightly differently as well. But no doubt that this honey will have effect on many health problems starting from cough and sore throats.
Particularly indicated with cheese and lamb it is also a product that can go with many dishes depending on the fantasy of the cooker.
We at Asphodel suggest to take it also in a cup of tea, or with milk for breakfast.
